If the Queen of Hearts can make some tarts... so can we!

 Okay! So here we start.
       The Ingredients
2 cups Self Rising Flour
2 T. sugar
5 T. crisco or real butter
Enough milk/ buttermilk to make a dough

Fresh fruit! ( We used Strawberries and Blueberries! )

Some melted Butter

Directions:
Cut the crisco/ room temp butter into the self rising flour ( the best cooks use their hands). I put this in a bowl for this step. Cut in well, and then proceed to add buttermilk or milk slowly so that you don't get the dough too sticky. If you add slightly too much don't freak out.. you can just add more flour until you get your consistency back! Should be like play dough. Now add the 2 Tablespoons of sugar and work it through the dough. Roll the dough out onto the floured table/ counter/ whatever surface you prefer approximately 1/3 inch thick.
Now!!! Cut your dough into squares. And toss your fresh cut fruit into a bowl with some sugar and roll it around.  Now place your fruit in the center of the squares and fold the squares up around the fruit and pinch the tops if you can... if not.. leave the tops open, just be sure to pinch the sides together ( this holds in the juices). I prefer leaving the tops open for looks!  Brush the tarts with butter and sprinkle with sugar, place them on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until the tops are a nice golden brown.

Let cool for about 10 minutes... Now TOP it off with Cool whip! And serve!
As an alternative if you don't like cool whip....you can also make a thick sauce from powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and bourbon.  ENJOY!!!!
